CAMRA Presentation, 15 consecutive years in the Good Beer Guide.
Heavy Woollen District CAMRA will be presenting our award for 15 consecutive years in the good be! er guide. Not bad going since we’ve only been open 15 years! Our thanks to HW CAMRA for this special award. The HW CAMRA Pub of the Year winner this year was The New Charnwood inHeckmondwike. Our big congratulations to Pauline and Terry on their success.
Lisa and the team also got the thumbs up in our 6 monthly Cask Marque accreditation visit this week. All the beers got top marks on the tastings. Just needed a slight adjustment to the temperature in the cellar where there\'s a cold spot.
Lisa and the staff have been asking customers for feedback on the beers and askingfor suggestions for future beers you would like to see plus any other commentsor suggestions about the West. St George’s Day will be kicked off big style this year at the Sportsman, for our very first birthday party! So be sure to visit us over the weekend for a mini beer festival with an outdoor bar and food. This one\'s not to miss!!

2010 Dewsbury and Heavy Woollen CAMRA Real Ale, Food and Music Festival, Dewsbury Town Hall
As a local CAMRA member I have to plug the upcoming Beer Festival at Dewsbury Town Hall, which I am helping to organise along with several members of the Heavy Woollen branch. This is to commemorate 35 years since the 1st Beer Exhibition in 1975, organised by the then Kirklees CAMRA members, Mike Field and Robert Norman . S! o there will be a reunion for members atthe 1st Festival, and a photo and archive exhibition from 1975. (Let us know ifyou have photos, email info@dewsburybeerfestival.co.uk) plus a local and regional focus to the beers, food and music. We have 70 plusYorkshire beers, 10 real ciders, 3 Belgiandraught beers and bottles. Former Dewsbury Rams player, Mick Stephenson ‘Stevo’will be opening the festival at 6pm Thursday 20th May. Kirklees Music School will be playinglive on Friday evening and there will be designated quiet sessions. At 11amSaturday 22nd there will be a Girls Guide to Beer Tasting, anopportunity for women to meet 6 Yorkshire Brewsters (female brewers) and tryout their beers with guidance from Annabel Smith, the only female Cask Marqueaccreditor in the UK.To reserved tickets, (from only £2 for CAMRA members) volunteer for staffing, or to sponsor a barrelor run a food stall, please go to the website www.dewsburybeerfestival.co.uk. So this promises to be a festival with something for everyone and I lookforward to seeing you there!

West Riding 2nd World Sup Beer Festival
Only 2 weeks after the CAMRA beer festival, our very own annual summer beerfestival has become a fixture in the diary. This year is takes place at the West Riding from Thursday 5th June toSunday 6th, themed again after the successful World Sup held 4 years ago.
Heck, if we get through all that, then it will be summer!
